Hey,

Every time I try and download the initial .torrent file, it doesn't download. It always only downloads 12.3 Kb, then when opened in Transmission, it says it's an invalid torrent file. I've tried downloading the file with Safari and Firefox with no changes. I always have to get someone else to download it, which is annoying. Once I have the file, everything is fine. I've also tried downloading .torrent files from different websites such as thepiratebay and Demonoid. Nothing changes.

Any ideas?

Mm.

It may turn out to not be an issue with your macintosh, but rather your internet connection... check your firewall settings, and allow the process for whatever torrent program you are downloading the torrents with to be allowed through.

Well the torrent program works just fine, it's the initial file I have to download so I can download the music/program etc. I just download the file directly from the internet.

It will not surprise me if this post get's banned, as you are talking about dubious sites, but I would clear all your browser caches (just rest Safari from the file menu) and verify your permissions in disk utility. Try after that and see where you are.

I tried resetting Safari and it didn't help. I also have permission on the disk.
Another thing, while only downloading 12.3 Kb of the torrent file, it downloads at 0.4 Kbps.

Anything else I can try?

I agree with Quinton and JRMiller, it's most likely to be your ISP, which 'chokes' bittorrent sites because they hog so much bandwidth. Try your downloads at an off-peak time (applicable to your location). Several ISP's I know of relax their torrent rules in the wee hours of the morning, for example.

If you have a laptop, try going to a local library or something to download the .torrent file. Sounds like your ISP doesn't want you accessing them.

No luck with trying in the wee hours of the morning. It just seems to be the little torrent file.
