Despite my best efforts at rebuilding my iPhoto Library following installation of Yosemite (which wrecked the whole events structure), I have decided to restore my iPhoto Library from last November, just before I installed Yosemite.
The file is 104GBs (over 20,000 photos) and when attempting the restore I am getting a 'Waiting' message on the Time Machine. How long will I need to 'wait' as the file is prepared and how long is it going to take to restore? Will it restore directly into IPhotos?

It's very likely going to take considerable time preparing a single file that large to restore and then to restore it. And yes, it will ask where you want to restore it to. You can restore it over the top of your current library file or another location.
