Tim Cook's "time to shine" with new iPhone announcement

Personally I didn't find the presentation that dull, quite frankly. When I show it to people (non-nerds) who didn't see the WWDC show, they are RIVETED. They can't believe the stats, and the variety of speakers keeps things from getting boring. It went a little long, yeah ... but I try to look at these things as normal people do, not as up-to-the-minute detail nerds who "know" every rumour way in advance and are of course disappointed when Apple doesn't produce a talking car with quad-core processors and a 76gigapixel camera do.

From that perspective, it was an excellent "state of the company" report (still far better than any OTHER tech company I can think of's annual report), with a different lead speaker (kind of a slow drawl, but hey he's from Alabama -- cut him a little slack!) but no less of a delightful bevy of wonders, some of which I didn't know about.

Looking back on it in light of the fact that they all KNEW Steve was busy passing away at the time, it's a remarkably brave show where they couldn't let their true feelings give away the game ... that took guts and loyalty, people.

Agreed completely Chas!

One thing though, no one is Steve Jobs and no one will ever be Steve Jobs. Tim Cook did well and especially with all the stress of knowing his friend was dying.

But Jobs is Jobs, no one can give a speech like he could! :D

And you can bet Tim Cook and Jobs were friends. Jobs was not going to put anyone in as CEO like last time with Scully unless he was SURE he was the right person for the job.

In all honesty, I so wished that Jonathan Ive would become the next CEO. Young, energetic and had a massive hand in what Apple is today. His slick designs what made iPods and iPhones so special!
