Four score and two days ago MacConnection brought forth to my house, a new operating system, conceived in Cupertino, and dedicated to the proposition that all computers should just work.
Now we are engaged in a great switch, testing whether that operating system, or any operating system so conceived and coded, can long endure. We are met at a great forum for that switch. We have come to dedicate a post on that forum, as a final resting place for those computers who previously caused such anxiety that that operating system might be needed. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this.
But, in a larger sense, we cannot dedicate, we cannot consecrate, we cannot hallow this post. The brilliant men, programmers and engineers, who struggled in Cupertino, have consecrated it, far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note, nor long remember what I type here, but it can never forget what they did there. It is for us the switchers, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who designed have thus far so nobly advanced. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us, that from these honored machines we take increased performance to the work for which they give every measure of performance, that we here highly resolve that these men shall not have programmed in vain, that this community, under Jobs, shall have a new birth of marketshare, and that Macs of the switchers, by the switchers, for the switchers, shall not perish from this earth.
Thank you to everyone at Mac-Forums.com for 82 great days of being a Mac owner.
