iSightnreplaced at home.

Hey, got it fixed by replacing it. Took me 4 hours to disassemble the Macbook Pro which I had some experience replacing HD. The display is a bt more complex and requires some prying into the bezels. iFixit site has instructions, the besr BTW, to do that and they sell tools for that.

I used an iSight replacement from an eBay reseller of about $30. It is a two piece package, camera itself and cipver small circuit board. I wanted to be safe and replaced both, mounted the whole machine and rebooted. Now the camera green LED lits, apps recognize the camera including Photo Booth but there is no image. I have dismounted it again and reinstalled my old camera and got using just the new circuit board. This time all went fine with the camera and after 3 months stil working. Saved me $500 in AASP I could save for machine replacement late this year (after new Intel processors are out).

The only two bad stuff, bezels stay with small prying marks because I used a kitchen knife to pry it instead of a plastic spludger and the left fan is making some noise (it is required removing it to remove the display). I guess the fan can be fixed or replaced but not in a hurry.

Hope helps you.
