Temp increase after SSD upgrade

hi,

I have just upgraded my MBP mid 2012 non retina from 750GB HDD to 1TB SSD. Previously upgraded to 16GB RAM but no issues. The problem started after the upgrade to the SSD.

I have noted that the idling temperature prior to the SSD upgrade was 35 degrees Celsius while after the upgrade is reaching 50 degrees celsius. But my worries are only when I start VMWare fusion running windows because the temp is rising to 85 degrees having cooling fans running high.

Some say this is normal but for me this is happenning only after upgrading to the SSD because the temp using the VMware fusion with the HDD hardly reached 65-70 degrees celsius.

Can anyone help please?

I don't think it's normal. Which SSD did you install in your 2012 MacBook Pro? If anything, the SSD should run cooler than a spinning hard drive.

I have installed M550 Crucial 1TB.

Thats what I think that should run cooler not the opposite.

The Crucial SSDs are some of the best. It should certainly run cooler in my opinion. You might want to contact Crucial support and see what they have to say. The folks at Crucial are familiar with Macs and should be able to provide some advice. Let us know what they say.

Sure it should be cooler as the SSD contains no moving parts to create heat. Suggest checking out sensors etc.

Hi,

Somehow things seems that have been sorted out after I have used the AVG PC tuneup software.

Perviously I have installed the windows from a clone that I had made from the previous HDD. At this stage the MBP was heating up. But after running the AVG PC tuneup it came back to normal.

Not sure if it makes sens but it seems it does.
