The pictures you have there are typical of a video card when it is having a problem refreshing the screen. My first question is whether this begins immediately after a re-boot or does it take a period of time? Am relative newb to the Mac, so my approach to tech is still based on my experience with the other side. Because of all the items I noticed in the dock, there are 2 things I would suggest - get as much of that stuff out of the dock as you can - you can always put it back. Next I would check to see what all programs you have loading at startup. Go into System Preferences, Accounts, Login Items. Would try getting rid of everything at login, reboot and see what happens. If the problem disappears you can put them back a few at a time until the issue re-occurs. The above type of items work on occasion. Most often it is a matter of a corrupted driver. In windows it can sometimes be fixed by removing and re-installing the video driver. Other times I have seen it require a fresh install of the OS. And on occasion it was the card in it's death throes. I don't have a clue if the video driver can be removed and have the system boot with just a basic VGA driver and then re-install the card's driver with a Mac system or not. If anyone knows about this, feel free to jump in. You could also boot with your original disc and run the hardware test.
