system files

cloned ssd with sierra, 230 gbs, 3 wks later there are 410 gbs: 380 gbs, in system files 13.8 itunes, applications 4.32, ios files 7.01 and docs 3.08 gb what is going on with system files and how to reverse / prevent

What application are you using for cloning, and are you using any option that would be saving previous files Etc,???

thanks, used ccc, it seems to be from the past 2+ weeks, did back up directly after cloning, went to back up again, 347 gb for back up
something is bloating files and need to understand how to eliminate safely.....

Do you have Safety Net turned on in CCC? If it is on, there will be a Safety Net folder at the root of the drive where older version of files are being stored. That is what Safety Net does, keep replaced files from the backups just in case you want to go back.

something is bloating files and need to understand how to eliminate safely.....

tech tool was the cause .. dont know how but could only find it in reference, seemed to be hidden some where....discovered an app called omni sweep, it high lighted tech tool, location and size checked to make sure it wasnt system needed and trashed it...... removed close to 500 gb from all the externals what a relief....

Are you sure it wasn't just the e-Drive that Tech Tool Pro.app can create as a user option???

Just a thought in case you were wondering...

not having used it to any length to understand the sophistication of the app just glad ssd
space is back to normal use.....
