Why is it when I delete messages from my laptop they still appear in my iMac? I do you iCloud to sync all of my devices and I've checked the setting on each. All are similar

So you are syncing Mail in the iCloud list of synced applications?

If your iCloud settings are the same as mine everything done on the phone (top) should be mirrored on the Mac and vice versa unless there is a network connectivity issue.

Thank you, Rod for your prompt reply. I checked my iCloud mail on all 3 of my devices and they all have the identical storage number of 367.8 MB. Yet they all show a different number of email messages per email box. Shouldn't that also be identical if I delete 100 emails from my iMac why are they not deleted from my laptop. Very strange.

I should have mentioned this before but are you using Apple Mail on all your devices?

The reason I ask is that I don't use Apple Mail I use Spark and that is not synced via iCloud but what I delete on iOS Spark is still deleted on Spark Desktop and vice versa so, Syncing via iCloud is not perfect. When you delete on iOS Mail that data has to sync to iCloud then macOS Mail has to sync to iCloud to reflect the changes made in iOS. So there is likely to be a delay which is why I mentioned connectivity.

Are all your email accounts iCloud accounts, or are there different email providers, ie Yahoo, Hotmail (Live/Outlook/etc.), gmail? Sometimes the provider is to blame.

I use an account from Comcast, Gmail, and Yahoo. All 3 checked out as identical in each of my 3 email devices' preferences/settings. I can understand a delay (although I have 1GB internet) but this is a case of deleting from my iOS device and those emails not deleting from my MacBook or IMac. Not the end of the world but simply aggravating since I try to keep up with it. Thanks Rod and Ferrari.

I will always blame yahoo first as I had a very bad experience with them a long time ago. And after I saw how my wife always had over 10000 unread emails, because they just keep coming, I was glad I got away from them.

If you use IMAP protocol, then email should sync via your server, regardless of email client, however if you are using pop3 then they will NEVER sync, however this all depends on the email sever you are using as some do not give you the option. So please provide more details of what email, and the settings.

I realise that some people may for specific reasons still be using POP3 but it's pretty uncommon. I can only find one or two email clients that cater to POP3, most are exclusively IMAP nowadays.
Perhaps it's the fault of the email server.

I can say with certainty that POP 3 doest NOT Sync between Devices.

My situation is this:

On My Mac my Primary Email is IMAP and this will Sync between all Devices as/if required.

However, I've gone done a different route. The same Primary Email on my iPad is POP 3.

Why would I want such a situation? It means that if I delete an email on my Mac and subsequently wish I hadn't, I can see that email on my iPad.

When I'm on Holiday, I do all my emails on the iPad - any that I receive, will be on my Mac when I get home. Any that I send from the iPad is automatically sent to my IMAP on the Mac (I set that up myself).

As time goes by, it's very easy to Delete some or all of the Emails on my iPad. In general, I tend to keep E-mails on my iPad for about 4-6 weeks before deletion.

Some, will find this arrangement strange to say the least, but it suits me.

The bottom line is IMAP syncs, POP 3 doesn't.
