Well, using the BURN thing, I can make a 2 gig movie; one of about 35 minutes in length, and in a less that optimal format (520 instead of 720, but at least its not 480!)... I uploaded it to the Amazonians, and if they accept, this may be the new deal for awhile... but in that Joilet 'prison' (LOL) I am stuck with a 2 gig max!!! Again, thanks for your help!!

Have you tried the DVD option of Burn? You're not actually burning the file, you're saving it as an iso. I didn't test to see if the Video portion created an iso, but if it does, the DVD should have larger file sizes. Joliet is limited because of the format.

It asked for something they said was "one incompatible file" to be changed to an "MPG" whatever... not sure about that, but it would give me an ISO in MAC HFS and I thing MAC + PC... neither of which, as NEW ISO files would LOAD onto AMAZON... ONLY the 2 gig limited JOLIET thing, which I have loaded and am awaiting them to publish... if they will...

Can you post a link to there submission guidelines? I can find some info about audio formats but unless I missed it I did not see anything regarding video.

Their guidelines no longer make any sense... They start off wanting a new ISO file uploaded, and end up talking about a DVD, somehow... which was part of the way I used to do it.

Submitting your content

Content must adhere to our Content Guidelines and Member Agreement.
You must obtain all applicable copyright licenses to artwork used in your DVD. See our Copyright Guidelines for more information.
Content must be an authored DVD provided as a single ISO file.
ISO files must be unencrypted.
Your source must contain only AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders in the root directory of the disc.
We do not support inclusion of data or executable files on DVD.
In order to maximize playback compatibility, we recommend a maximum total bit rate for the combined video and audio tracks of 6.5 Mbp/s (megabits per second).
We recommend using Dolby Digital (AC-3) audio; however PCM and DTS audio are also supported.
We accept discs up to 4.6 GB in size.
Only single track DVDs are supported at this time.
We recommend that you test your DVD by playing it on several different set-top DVD players before sending it to us. If the copy you send us contains any problems, then every copy sold will contain the same problems.

OK, what you've done so far probably won't be accepted. They want a dvd image. The AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders are a construct for DVD discs and players. You'll need to create the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders using a DVD creator, then create the ISO image with those folders on it.

Those instructions actually DO make sense. They are using the term "DVD" as a format, not a media. That's acceptable.
The one good news in this is that you'll be able to make longer movies. But not .mov or .dv format.

Okay... so, what do I do now? DO I use BURN on another setting, somehow, or... you see, this is normally where I get completely lost. Their instructions make NO SENSE to me whatever. Format? Media? AUDIO_TS what? VIDEO-TS?

I don't speak any of this...

When I used to send them discs, I could not use my RDR-GX7 SONY Burner to make these fantastic DVDs;l but I could use the MAGNAVOX DVD and VCR 1080 Up-convert from Walmart, and they did take those...

Because of whatever files you are talking about...

Roxio Toast will take whatever format you have and convert to the DVD format, plus actually make the disk for you. I don't know if it can output .iso files or not.

There are others, but I'm neither a power user of Roxio nor a movie-maker, so now you know everything I know about the subject!

Here is the further inane nonsense that AMAZON sends me. I swear they just do not want me making films with them any longer!!

Their stupid file took it, and yet, this is the result.

Hello George,

Thank you for contacting CreateSpace in regard to the status of title "Daytona Beach Ocean Waves 2015"

I can confirm we have received your ISO file upload. However, our Disc Ingestion Team was unable to process the file due to the following reason.

- The file does not contain a VIDEO_TS directory

We recommend recreating your ISO file prior to reuploading to us.

Have a great day!

Best regards,

Jason

Go to the App Store. Get this: http://fuelcollective.com/permute
Drag the movie to the window. Select DVD. "It will save in ISO format which you can burn immediately" is what the preset says.
Upload the ISO image.
**** good converter anyway, even if it wont do what you want. (I think it will)

I hate to sound like a smartypants, because I don't have your experience in this area, but if it were me ... I'd spend an hour looking up confusing terms on the internet to discover what they mean when it comes to producing videos. If video-making is what you want to do, it will pay off handsomely as you go forward to learn video editing and file-creation terminology. You can certainly just hit (eventually) upon a process that satisfies the immediate requirements, but as we've all seen in this thread, when one is just following a procedure by rote without understanding it, the moment the procedure or requirements change, one becomes completely lost. Whereas with a good understanding of how DVDs/video ISOs are structured, what the parts are called and what they do, you'll be better prepared for any future alterations. Hope that helps.

Good Idea.

I got into making movies on a SONY RDR-GX7 burner, originally, using RECORD PAUSE and fire-wiring in from a Digital8 Camera, and pumping in audio from a paused cassette deck, or CD player. I got pretty good at it.

I bought my first computer of any kind, a MAC in late Nov of 2006, from the nearest source, SHORT PUMP mall in Richmond, about three hours drive from my home in Va., and I then realized that David Pogue was not in the box... $24 later, I was learning about iMovie6 and iDVD.

The computer came with a mouse, a keyboard, a monitor and a power cord and no instructions whatever. Welcome to APPLE.

I have had many such conversations as we are having now with APPLE tech support, where I developed a fantastic sarcasm to shield myself from their sighs and groans over my lack of knowledge. I use it to fend off that inherent Sheldon Cooper arrogance that comes from those who are usually speaking down to the unwashed and unlearned among themselves.

You are right, and one should do that. But I plan to finish up with what I have, and during the next change, get out from all of this, altogether... unless APPLE decides to quit pandering to the quick upload teens with slow mo skateboard shots... who are more concerned about how stupidly THIN a thing can be made... and starts getting serious with those who want to learn movie making and wish to have a COMPLETE system in one package, not farmed out hither and yon...

I realize that Cook is not Jobs, but that is no excuse. Its still APPLE and it should all be available from one source, and from one set of instructions. Made by one set of people in one building and all shoved into one white box... and seriously, let's stop denying that there are users like me out there. I am 6 grand PLUS into these people and they should wake up to that fact. We don't WANT to learn all this stuff by trial and error; we just want to be shown a simple path... so stop ignoring the fact that ISO files are used by a good chunk of the world (whatever they are) and build us a BUILT IN two step disc utility drop and drag to deal with these people!! I mean, please.

So unless they want to invent the iCANMAKEFILMSWITHNOBACKGROUNDWHATSOEVER Suite of iFILM '17, and have a complete package of stuff WITH INSTRUCTIONS for how to run the thing... after this next great change and crash, I plan to take the next off ramp, and just enjoy walking down the beach without any equipment, whatsoever.

Never said it was free. But at $10.00 it's worth it to try.

A serious question Beowulf54.

I live right on the ocean Down Under. Do folks pay for a DVD with just waves and the sounds of the ocean, winds, birds etc.? I can see the value as a relaxation, motivational and mood therapy for those who live inland or many hundreds of miles from the shoreline.
