Surveliance/Using Iamc at home through iPhone/Remote access?

I have an iMac with Mavericks and would like to turn on/off my Mac from my IPhone when away and use the camera for surveillance. If not then what is a good, reasonable camera I can use on my iMac for surveillance in my home?
