Does anybody know if the Pioneer DVR-A06 will work as a substitute for the original Superdrive that came with the G4's? I have seen where the A05 will work, but I can only find the A06's at my local retailers. I want to make sure I keep full compatibility with iDVD etc. Thanks!

I do not think that model will work. Try looking for the Pioneer DVR-105. That is the drive in the Silver drive door Macs. The Quicksilver models had a Pioneer DVR-104 model. I've seen the DVR-105 at the local Compusa and Microcenter. If not, try getting it from www.directron.com or another internet retailer. Good Luck!

Yes the DVR-A06 will work. You will still only be able to use the DVD-R media.

Check out Dealmac.com. I've seen the bare bone DVR-106 (OEM of the DVR-A06) for $110.
