Stuffit on Panther

I simply cannot get any version of Stuffit Expander (the free version of Stuffit) to work Panther. I've tried the 7.0.3 version that ships with Panther. That didn't work, so I tried 8.0, which also didn't work, so I finally tried 8..0.2. I've reinstalled Stuffit so many times I've lost count. I always get the same reults, however. The Alladin Systems site is totally useless. Maybe if I bought one of the non free versions I'd actually get some help.

With all of them I get the same behavior, which is that nothing happens. I get no error message, but the file does not expand either. I've tried every destination option and nothing ever happens.

My wife and I actually have to Macs. I have a PowerBook and she has an iMac, but the results are the same for both.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

I sometime have problems with expanding some files. To get around the problem I do the following. First run the expander application. Once you have the stuffit application running. You go to the file open menu option and locat the file you want to expand, select it. This usually opens up any file that will not expand if you double click on it. Hopefully this will help you.

Thanks for the suggestion. But that didn't work either. What version of Panther and what version of StuffIt are you using?

I am not using Panther at this time. After I file my taxes I will be upgrading to Panther.I am still at 10.2.8, with stuffit 7.0.3. but I have had the experience you have had. And running stuffit and then openning the file has worked for me.
