Which Mac model do you have as various methods are easier?

The easiest to try is facing the optical slot down and hit the eject button.

Does your eject button even do anything??? Is there any noise etc???

Is there more than one optical disc in the slot???

Are you using a Slot load or Tray Load optical drive???

Some methods use double-sided tape wrapped around the end of a credit cards or tongue depressors then slipped into the slot to help grab and manipulate the stuck CD out. Sometimes flat sided tweezers are needed to grab the CD and pull it out.

This article lists 12 different ways to eject a stuck disk. One of them is almost bound to work.

Great link Sly and several there I had forgotten about.

One they didn't mention was using a credit card or thin stick and try and get the eject mechanism to trigger by sliding them to the extreme sides of the slot to press against the triggering arm.

Also, if it's an old or newer Tray load Drive, there is often a small hole at one side of the tray where inserting a paperclip into it can trigger the eject mechanism.

I've used the paper clip trick but never tried the credit card trick.

BTW If I try the credit card trick and lose the card down the slot does that mean I don't have to pay the bill?

Some hints Sly,

Cut the credit card into a narroweer width and use an old credit card!!!
