Strange thing in Mail - any ideas?

When I look in my sent mail, there is a picture at the side of the message - this picture doesn't seem to appear in the message on the recipients computer but I am still curious as to how it got there, and how to make it go!!
Any help appreciated!

It's your account user picture. Sorry, I don't know how to make it go away, but you can change it in System Preferences>Accounts>Picture.
