Its an A1932 Macbook air, she got it second hand it has been working fine for several years then a few days ago its gone a bit wonky to say the least. There is 1 screw missing from underneath and the part of the screen cable that is visible from underneath has a blue sticker on so maybe it had a screen replacement that was not an Apple screen as I don't remember seeing any colour there on any other macbooks I've seen
One day she was using it then part of the screen at the bottom suddenly wasnt visible, there was a black bar across there. She shut it down and the next day it was fine so she didnt think anything of it. Then a few days later she was working on it and the screen went black and has not come back on since.
Earlier today I connected it to a hub and a monitor via HDMI, powered it on, we heard the chime, the screen lit up a little as if the backlight has come on but no Apple logo and the keyboard lit up but nothing on the monitor so entered her password but still nothing on monitor. I repeated the same process with my M1 Macbook AIr and when I got to the logon screen on my Mac the monitor displayed as a second screen.
I powered her Macbook Air off and on again but this time no chime and still nothing on monitor and the keyboard didn't light up.
So I took the bottom of her Macbook Air and disconnected the screen cable then reconnected to the hub but this time no chime and still nothing on monitor, but the fan ramped up to full speed and the keyboard didn't light up.
I know with an older Macbook Air I had with a broken screen that I had to remove the screen cable to get it to work with an external monitor.
She says it hasnt been dropped but her dog may have stood on it during the night
I can't decide if its screen or logic board
