starting page numbers after title and into. pages

Using Word 2008 for Mac. I'm writing a book and need to start my page numbers (with #1) after the title page and credit pages. Have tried everything and nothing I've found works. Also haven't found a way to undo numbers once I try putting them on.

If the changes are actually working but not showing as expected, try saving your Word document and maybe quit Word, that may not be necessary. Then open the document and hopefully the changes you want and made will be there.
