Since moving to Ventura, Spotlight has proved almost useless and will not show files even though I know they exist. For example, setting Spotlight preferences to ONLY show video, I enter a search as shown in the first screenshot in attachment. Firsly, it shows the heading 'Photos from Apps' (What's that about?) and secondly, pressing 'Show more' I get the result as shown in the second screen shot. It seems to be looking ONLY for photos and obviously cannot find any mathcing the search as these are video files.

The fact that it only shows a generic icon in the first image is another anomaly ... but that query can wait :)

I have rebooted, reindexed the disk and directory involved and run Onyx. Still same issue. If I use the searh function in Finder the results are exatly as I would expect. It's just Spotlight that is messed up. Any ideas please?

What I've done in the past is to Rebuild Spotlight as per the link below:

After doing this, you might consider going into System Settings > Siri & Spotlight > then under Search Results, choose the categories you want Spotlight to search.

Just curious, but how long did it take for Spotlight to rebuild its index???

Unfortunately, at least according to Google, you don't seem to be alone with the Spotlight problems with Ventura.

Maybe have a look at some of the suggestions here:

And even more hits to check out from the list here:
