Sometimes the keyboard doesn't pop up

Macbook5,2, iPad 16 gb, iPhone 3GS 32 gb, Iphone 4
Has anyone else noticed that sometimes while using the iPad the key board doesn't come up. And there is no way to make it come up. What i end up doing is powering the iPad down and restarting it, and then it works fine. Am I the only one having this issue? Or am I doing something wrong?
