Hi everyone, I have a 2013 iMac sitting and collecting dust, and I was wondering if I could use it as a monitor for this laptop.

It has a Mini Display Port, and the iMac has two Thunderbolt connectors, I just don't know if I can just use a Mini DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort cable and have it working.

Since there's a technology gap of sixteen years between the two I deemed it necessary to inquire about this, and where else then here?

BTW it's good to be back :)

No, Target Display Mode only works with other Macs. Not Windows based laptops.

If you want an external monitor for that MSI laptop, grab a monitor for it.

It's good to have you back even if your posts are few and far between your last one being on Feb

But as they say... " precious things aren't found in heaps". ;-)

PS: That's some interesting product that Randy posted about that could be useful for some users.
