In north-west England it was Coke.

Here in Dubai it is usually a "drink" or simply Coke.

Here in Texas it is mostly just "coke".... but I'm from northern neck Virginia... There we just call it "That there bubbly stuff." I personally go with "soda."

Bubbler: "44 oz Thirstbuster" a.k.a "bladder-buster"
My college room-mate was from Cape Cod. To him a 'Bublaah' (rhymes with caah as paack the caah) was a water fountain.

In the deep south, where I (blushes) grew up, we called everythin' Coke.

I got yelled at early in my college career (in New York) for calling it "Pop." I am still in the habit of calling it "Soda" and nobody around here knows what the heck I'm talking about.

A "bubbler" is that little thing you stick in your fish tank that aerates the water so your fish don't suffocate. (Hey, it puts out bubbles... must be a BUBBLER!)

........

.Texas= Soda or Sodawater (all one word). When I was in Michigan visiting family, I noticed that they like their cokes with a straw but they pronounce it like : straaaah. I just got back from Germany where they actually put carbonated water in virtually everything. You have to really make sure you say "Naturale" when you ask for a water in a restaurant or you get sparkling water...Nasty stuff too

I'm originally from NY - soda.
Now I'm in OK - pop.

I still say soda.

Same thing goes for wagons, like at the grocery store.

NY - wagon
OK - cart

I say wagon here and no one knows what I'm talking about. I never stray from the correct NY roots. :mac:
