Best upgrade for the Mac since the jump to OS X. I have exactly one issue with it, which is that Instant Hotspot sometimes doesn't work. Otherwise, no meaningful complaints.

This totally does not surprise me.

That and using a custom font hack to replace that gawdawful fuzzy Helvetica Neue system font.

The font replacement for the Helvetica system font is nice, however, it screws up several apps - mainly Chrome which I use. Later on when they get some of the little glitches worked out, I'll give it a try.

Just wondering if this post might be relevant to the problem you have experienced with the Schreiberstein solution?

https://github.com/schreiberstein/lucidagrandeyosemite/issues/8

Regards, Nate :D

No, not the same. The problem occurs when opening a second or addition tab in Chrome. The URL is cut off - in other words, you can only see half the letters. The developer is fully aware of the problem and has stated that there is a fix, but the fix affects other things like menus. In any event, the new font is nice but not that much better than the Apple provided Helvetica system font.

Had been running the Yosemite Beta as a registered tester for weeks before release, had no problems other than increased loading time running off a USB HD nothing surprising there. Once up and running a few initial glitches which were sorted quickly.
I loaded the production version one week after release and have had virtually no issues with transition at all. WiFi connection needed reseting, a couple of apps needed updating to Yosemite versions and some of them only because of additional features available in Yosemite.
I did not do a clean install this time although I was prepared to if necessary and I have to say Yosemite seems to work even better than Mavericks.
I do not use Mail or Safari except for problem solving purposes for other people and I really cant see that either improved any since the upgrade.
No problem with Hot Links using AirMail to Opera.
I do not like the new iTunes interface although I use it extensively, I waste a lot of time trying to navigate windows column sizes and views but maybe thats just me. iPhoto on the other hand works very well.
Incidentally talking about iPhoto someone showed me something the other day I did not know (there are a lot of those incidentally) you can drag a photo from the iPhoto viewer to the desktop. This places a copy on the DT that makes loading to websites really easy. In the past I used Show Original in Finder in the iPhoto menu then copied it then placed it on the desktop. This saves two steps.
I too like the increase contrast option. No problems with Chrome either although it is not my default.:)
So all up apart from a bit of detective work locating the locations of various command buttons like Software Update this is a great OS.

I am already wondering if they will update the UI anymore this next release.. LOL I will how ever be stuck with Mavericks until I get a new system. I can not risk upgrading a production machine. So guess when I do get a new MBP perhaps next year, the upgrade will be that much sweeter..

Love the way it works. Hate the way is looks so flat and dull.

I agree with your comment on the way it looks. It is difficult with older eyes to tell the active window from the rest. Cannot always tell where the one ends and the other starts. It may be OK for the younger developers and users, but not for us old pharts.

Aqua evolved QUITE A BIT over the years, and iOS 8 made changes to the look of iOS 7.

So I think I can say with reasonable confidence that the Yosemite look will also evolve a bit over time. Heck it already has done just since the betas! Man do I love dark mode now that all my menubar icons are compatible with it.

You can say that again, I just got the update for Windows Live (a suggestion I made by the way) for dark mode with a white menubar icon where before it was dark blue and virtually invisible.
Peter B its worth toying around with the contrast controls a little. I am an "old phart" myself and this has helped increase definition a lot for my use.:D
