SMTP Server "smtp.gmail.com" rejected the password

The above problem started yesterday on my iMac but emails on my MacBook Air and iPad work normally

This happens once in a while with all sorts of email accounts and it's usually temporary. Wait for a bit and give it a try later.

Many thanks for your reply. How long is temporary?!!!!
Would you suggest a couple of days or so before I delve in to changing settings?!!

Unless the settings have changed for some reason, there's no point diving in (and if the error message has the right server address, that won't be the issue). The error should remedy itself shortly.
