SMC update issues

hey all, i am trying to download the SMC update and i have to update my OS to 10.4.8 and when i download it, i am not able to open/install it. Am i doing something wrong?

Is it the 10.4.8 update or the SMC update that you are unable to open/install? What version of OS X do you currently have installed? You can get that from the "About this Mac" item in the Apple menu.

well now that you say this i ahng my head in shame... i am running 10.4.11 duh ha ha, let me try the smc again and see if it works

ok so i got the installer to work but it says i already have this update, is there any way to get the problem that the update was suppose to fix, fixed??

ah sorry, the randomly shutting down when on batt supply, i have read that it is the heatsink expanding and touching the logic board, i am just trying to avoid taking it in to the apple store, kinda far away

Afraid I can't help ya with that. If the SMC fix didn't work, and the problem is hardware-related as you describe, then I would call Apple and see about sending or toting it in.
