Slow data burning

When I create a burn folder with data in it, it burns really slow! It takes about 10 minutes to burn one data cd that is about 700 mb. I set it to the max speed (24x)

Any ideas why this is?!

Perhaps your hard drive is nearly full, or perhaps severely fragmented (yes, it can happen despite common belief to the contrary).
