What happens if you select "settings" from the upper right hand menu item (next to your My Profile) at the top of the page?

For myself, that's the only way I can get to my Settings, and that page shows just as macgig posted above.
i.e.: syntax error, unexpected 'text' (T_STRING) on line 1 in … etc.

Okay. That page works fine for me and should work for everyone else. I'm going to look at your profile in the master data base to see if there are any errors showing up. Stand by....

I just checked your profile in the master data base and everything looked okay. I'm not sure why the settings page seems to not be working for you and macgig. We will have a look at it in more detail when Nick gets back from traveling. In the meantime, if anyone needs something changed like DOB or whatever, let me know and I can make the changes.

Hey Charlie, I'm not sure if this helps identify the problem but here's what happens for me. When I read this thread earlier I wnet to the Settigns page and it loaded fine. At that time I didn't test the links. A few minutes ago I tested the links on the left. If I click the "General Settings" it creats the sanme error the guys are seeing.

For me, the "General Settings" link appears to be the only one generating an error.

Ah... okay Sly.

I just tested what you said and you are correct. I now get the same syntax error.

I would say for now, just avoid the "General Settings" and go directly to the item you wish to change. DOB can't be changed anyway except by an Administrator. Don't ask me why we even need that particular item?

Certainly not a super vital problem I wouldn't think, and not much difference to their erroneous posting timestamp for some users. :Smirk: :Smirk:

But I sure hope you don't need to use any of their support videos they have at their site: https://www.vbulletin.com/en/learn-more/

I took a quick look at some which were rather pathetically done, and I couldn't even understand what the girl was talking about even with the volume turned up with one such tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RjgPRAXSWXA

Anyway, you probably don't have to deal with them, and good luck on your problem-solving. Sort of odd that one would have to fix the site that helps people fix their problem eh??? ;D

I meant to tell you that I found an error with your Date Time Settings in the master data base the other day while I was checking your settings. The "Automatically Detect Daylight Savings" option was not selected for your account. That would likely put your time off by one hour either way depending on whether we were on DST or not. I corrected it for you. Let me know if you get any more time errors.

Thank you Charlie, and I suspected that might have been the case.

I'll test here with my reply @ 5:46 PM PST.

Well, not what I was expecting as it says it was posted @ Today, 06:46 PM as I see it, but I guess that's correct as the mac-forums page at the bottom says:
All times are GMT -7. The time now is [the current time at -7 GMT of course]

Your post shows posted at 07:46 PM CST GMT -6. Which would be correct for my time zone.

So I guess there's still some other setting somewhere as it seems as if the server thinks I am on daylight saving time (one hour ahead) or the change you made hasn't sunk in to the system:
I meant to tell you that I found an error with your Date Time Settings in the master data base the other day while I was checking your settings. The "Automatically Detect Daylight Savings" option was not selected for your account.

Anyway, not a really big deal but I get tired of things not working the way they should. Maybe just sloppy programming or some "feature" change.

BTW: The posted incorrect time stamp shows up the same as my iMac's Maverick Safari and/or Firefox when using El Capt'n with my MB Pro.

This post time: 8:28 PM PST
vBulletin time says: All times are GMT -7. The time now is 09:28 PM.

Something is not right at your end. vBulletin should report "All times are GMT-8" not -7. The data base clearly shows your time zone as PST, GMT-8. Are you sure that your Mac is setup to automatically detect DST?

Yeah, I know something is goofy, especially after you checked and changed my member settings, the trouble is I don't know what!!

I have double-checked my date and time pref pane settings on both my Macs, even tried turning DT off and back on again, changed TimeZone to a different zone and back to the correct one, and even shutdown and rebooted. Still no change.

vBulletin is still insisting on showing:
All times are GMT -7. The time now is 11:01 AM.

My real time here is 10.01 AM PST
It is correct.

Go figure what's causing the problem, and with both Macs, Weird.

EDIT:
I just checked amy ehMac.ca forums site and it is correct and at the bottom says:
All times are GMT -8. The time now is 10:06 AM.

So it's working OK with that vBulletin forum page, so you can have the problem back I guess. :Smirk:

Check it now to see if it's working. I made another change to your setting.

**** YES!!! You did it!!

I was just posting on another thread and something looked strange — the timestamp on the post was actually correct!! Came here to check and it looks like you fixed things

vBulletin is now showing at the bottom:
All times are GMT -8. The time now is 10:52 AM.

So thanks for the fix Charlie.

EDIT: the correct timestamp here may not be supercritical, but it sure could be for an astronaut trying to make their rendezvous appointment in space!!!!

And it's nice to have things correct and working properly. I tend to be a bit fussy that way.
