Should I sell my Sony Vaio (2000) and/or my Winbook J4 (2002) for an iBook G3 Clamshell?
Hi:
I am thinking of selling my Winbook J4 desktop replacement notebook *P4* and/or my Sony VAIO (Both cost at least $1500 back in their day) for an old, iBook G3? I am a MAC enthusiast, and I just wanted to know if these will even sell!? Any help or comments appreciated!

(I do understand that this Mac is more primitive than my Winbook J4)

(Are these Macs slow to run Panther?)

well i dont know about your hardware. but i was also thinking of selling my hp pavilion custom built dv9500 which cost me about 2300 3 years ago but to my suprise its only worth about 2 or 300 dollars because there are so many laptops out there for 4 to 700 bucks out there. the market for used pc hardware really sucks right now. i decided to just keep my pavilion because it is worth more to me than 2 or 300 since it still works well. my specs on it are intel core 2 duo t7250, 8600gt 512mb, 2 250gig 7200 rpm hdd, 17" screen, 2 gig ram,windows vista ultimate 32bit.

Answer to question #1...Why not?

Answer to question #2...Will your Windows laptops even sell? This is a Macintosh website...might be a better question for a Windows laptop site. But in generalities...how well would you expect a 2000-2002 Windows laptop to sell?? I'm sure people aren't going to knock down your door to get at them!!!

Question #3...the iBook Clamshell will run Panther just fine. I have mine running Tiger (10.4).

That sounds like a pretty decent Windows laptop to me...I'd pay $200 for it!

The market value is always low for used laptops. You're very smart to keep yours. It's not that old, and unless its damaged then I'm sure its doing a good job for you. It's easy to get drawn in by a "new" laptop of nearly any brand. But after the newness wears off, its worth a fraction of what you paid. So focus on what's good about it, enjoy it and you'll save money in the long run. After all, it's only a computer.
