Has anyone ever used the straight razors? Like the kind they have in barbershops? How are they?

Way... way too many specs to list.
They shave fine. You will need to learn how to sharpen though ;) I prefer a safety razor (that's a double edged razor blade razor) for daily use. Not to mention both are significantly cheaper than disposables.

Shaving with a straight razor is really hard to do on yourself.

A safety razor, as Dysfunction said, is a lot easier to use (and cheaper) than a straight razor.

I'm 19, I'm trying to grow a handlebar mustache (harder than I thought), and I used to use a Mach 3, now on a Fusion.

Derek, if you do grow a handlebar mustache, you gotta post some pics so we can all stand in awe and admiration.

For me, I hate shaving. Like people have said, its a pain.
Only thing is, my beard grows funny. I have to small bald patches on the bottom right of my chin. So I have hair growing all over my face, except for two small bald spots. It's not really noticeable unless you're close up.

the biggest improvement is to go to a nice brush. Brush against the grain, shave with the grain..

How am I supposed to shave if I have some acne under the hair?

Ladies! Please don't share your secrets here cause I don't want to spoil my image of women. I always think of women to be clean, hair free, and who never have to do no. 2. Let it be like that. Please..

Also, when we have a slumber party we always end up having pillow fights in our underwear. It's inevitable, it always happens ;)

Unless I'm going somewhere fancy I shave with an electric on my way to work. I'm super lazy... I have an electric in my car, a Fusion at home, a Fusion at work, and an electric at work. All of them get used, it really depends on which is most convenient.

I have seen ppl shaving while driving only in movies. Do you really do that? Where goes all that nasty hair? What do you use to do that?

It will be perfect for meh lazy self.

until i was 24 years old i used to get a shave every sunday right after breakfast at the barber shop couple of blocks from my house in India. It was so nice. Every time i would get different styles of beard, it was so cool. For the last 4-5 years i have been shaving myself starting with mach 3 to fusion and i absolutely hate it.

Once in Chinatown, San Francisco I found a place who actually shaved for you like in India. It was heaven. I cant go there all the time coz you know parking and LITTLE PONIES. And once in Germany a Hot Russian women shaved for me. That was even better.

I use ConAir Electric to trim off the hair and then Fusion. PITA but it gotta be done and i do it very randomly. Sometimes once a week, sometimes i got without shaving until i get a warning from my boss. Btw i maintain a goatie otherwise frequently i would be called 'baby face'. I can write an another 1000 words about my shaving but i will stop here.

When I was in the military I had to shave everyday, and I used a mach3 with aveeno shaving cream. Now I only shave about 2 times a week with the same setup. I hate shaving as I have really sensitive skin and always cut myself no matter what. I even tried an electric but it wouldn't cut the hair it just slid over my face doing nothing.

We're a few months off, but I've decided to stop shaving my upper lip altogether for the next three months, by which time I should hopefully have it grown out.

I hate shaving, however, if I go to bed with the "5 o'clock shadow" or, worse yet, furry, it's gonna be a lonely night! My wife says she doesn't like being poked by my facial hairs! No joke ... not even a goodnight kiss! So I have no choice in the matter.

This actually interests me a lot, since I have heard of so many different ways men shave.

Since the summer, I have only been using a trimmer and trimming it really short, as opposed to shaving it with a razor. I absolutely hate shaving, so it makes things a bit easier. However, when I did shave all the time a couple years ago, I would shave in the shower. After shaving, I would get a nice handful of rubbing alcohol and splash it over my face (yeah...it hurt. But it helps with redness).

How does everyone here shave? :D

:O I shave mostly in the shower and use rubbing alcohol splash. It doesn't hurt that much as long as the razor is nice and sharp.
Though I have to shave everyday now that im 23. When I was about 16/17 I only had to every few days but as they say - the more you shave/cut the quicker it grows back.

I use disposable razors, I never buy the cheapest ones because they don't do anything, and not for longer than a week, then I throw it out and use a new one. The sharper/fresher the razor the easier the shave for me.

I can only remember cutting myself once. It was a pain though because it wouldn't stop bleeding, it eventually stopped later in the day, but while it was still going it was annoying.

My facial hair is real funny. It grows insanely fast, but it only grows to a certain length. I shave all the rest of it, except I guess what you would call a goatee without the mustache part.

Braun electric (before I go to bed), then an aftershave balm. Why, because I can't be bothered to shave when I get up!
