Since i updated to sl the day after it came out, i've only had one real problem to complain about and i don't understand why it does it. Ever since i've updated my clock will not stay at the right time.

I go into date and time preferences and make sure the time zone is correct. It is.

I try clicking the check box for "Set time zone automatically using current location" It comes up and says a town very close to me and it says the correct time zone but the clock doesnt change. The clock is always 4 hours behind and i dont understand why?

And when i manually set the clock it stays at the right time but then when i restart it goes back to being 4 hours behind.

Please help because its reallly bothersome!

Thank you,
Jeremy

I bought the $29 upgrade for my Mac Pro Tower running Tiger. I ran into so many problems getting it to install. Turns out my high tech problems had a low tech solution...blow out the disc drive with some compressed air and clean the CD with a little Windex.
It runs perfectly and I didn't lose anything. The $29 disc is an upgrade so it saves all your stuff without wiping out your hard drive. There is no option for a clean install. It just upgrades your system.

Hi, I'm having similar issues to PSYKOoOoO above - programs crashing left right and centre. I'm a photographer, and I'm finding Photoshop CS3 often quits unexpectedly when saving a JPEG or a PSD file, losing all my editing work. Adobe Lightroom also crashes when importing JPEGs. Pages often quits when I'm opening documents, and Mail has quit a couple of times. Then of course there are the incompatible programs. That's frustrating too, but not nearly as bad as these very regular crashes with Photoshop and Lightroom.
I am tearing my hair out and wishing I never wasted my money. Can someone please advise me how to uninstall it and go back to Leopard?? I just want to be rid of Snow Leopard completely, until Apple posts some pretty major fixes.
Any help very gratefully received.
P.S. I did a standard 'follow the instructions when you insert the CD" install, rather than an erase and install.

Hey, try updating to 10.6.1. It should be available in the Software Update. I updated mine this morning and most of my problems went away.

Snow Leopard is doing great. Faster startups, MUCH faster shut down (a few seconds), and I like the small visual touches. The new quicktime X is superior for HD playback, safari is faster, on and on.

At first the WIFI issues were worse than leopard, but unlike leopard, I was unable to simply go from WPA2 to WPA and everything works like a charm.

I even gained some hard drive space to boot.

I did have to screw around with my email for a few minutes to get it working again

After downloading the new OSX update this morning, Mail is able to use my outgoing mail server (before this, I wasn't able to send mail although I could receive it...some compatibility issue with Mail and the way my hosting company had Exchange configured, it would seem).

There is one interesting catch, however. If I send mail to certain addresses it works fine (so far, by testing, it seems most address...corporate email addresses, university email addresses, etc.). BUT if I send email to addresses at other domains, such as @me.com or @mac.com or @yahoo.com, then I get the "Cannot send message using the server xxxxx" popup.

Does anyone have any ideas? I don't really understand how email works (and why messages to these different domains would be treated differently), but it just seems odd.

Thanks!

Few Issues that I hope you can help with...

Hey!

I upgraded to 10.6 and also to the update of 10.6.1 and am having the following issue and questions:

Issue: When I try the QuickTime 'Record a Movie' function I am getting this error: The operation couldn’t be completed. (OSStatus error -536870181.) I also have an issue with the Recording Audio function. Which oddly enough I own a recording studio and feel I know how to set it up to do so. I am sourcing on both issues my iSight camera (which is Firewire on my Mac Pro desktop). The error with recording audio is: "Recording stopped because there was an interruption in the input media. Try quitting applications or disconnecting devices that are using resources needed for recording." This may be because I have other FW devices which I use for audio connected....?

Next are questions:
In the past (10.5.x) when I clicked on a say a Word doc file once I could 'command C 'copy' and then in an email paste and it would simply paste in the name of the file. Now if I do that it wants to attach that Word doc to the email. So I now have to click on the Word doc file twice as if I were going to modify the name, then copy and now I can paste the name into the email without attaching it. This issue becomes a real issue when I want to copy just the names of multiple files into an email (Mail) I can't. I basically have to double click on each file so I can highlight the name and then copy and paste one at a time...big hassle. Any way around that??

Next Question:
Why when I use 'Rich Text' in Mail that PC users can't open or even get my Word doc files? But when I switch it to 'Plain Text' they can?

Thanks

too many problems for me to keep SL over L

After many problems with my internet connection, firefox, and other apps, I decided to go back to regular old Leopard. WOW! There is definitely something wrong with SL and the way it handles the internet. I don't know what it is, but I am expecting apple to come up with a fix ASAP because the internet difference between when I had L and SL on my uni MBP15" is like night and day!!!:(

What problems were you having? Did you install the 10.6.1 update?

I was having problems with my internet/safari/firefox the most. I would open firefox and it would take more than 2 minutes to load yahoo! It would take even more to load ebay, which I use daily. Safari would have sudden slow downs, and most of the time, it would say internet connection lost or something. I would have to restart my dsl modem/router to get it to work. I know it's not a problem with my dsl because all the other computers are blazing fast on the internet, and even windows7 on bootcamp ran perfectly! And starting yesterday, safari would close itself due to an error at least once every 5-10 minutes!! Of course I downloaded and installed the new update! LOL!! I'm willing to wait till all the bugs get fixed, because honestly, Leopard is just fine for me!

Couple of issues with 10.6.1 update

I upgraded to Snow Leopard from the standard Leopard (which came prebuilt with my macbook pro). I didn't have any problems with Snow for the week or so i was using it but soon as i upgraded to 10.6.1 i have noticed a lot of applications appear to be very slow in loading such Firefox, VirtualBox and iTunes. :Shouting:

The worst and worrying thing is at times when i am using my machine, the whole display goes black and the only thing visible is the mouse. The machine is still running because half the time i am listening to music and can hear my songs.:Angry-Tongue:

Not too happy with this update.

@ PsYkOoOoO - The iPhoto shouldn't be the source of your problems. It works well with me and I have allmost 50GB of fotos in it and it still runs as fast as the day I bougt it. Only a bit faster now in SL!
