sfari quits without opening

I just reinstalled my operating system (10.9) on my macbook after i installed an SSD. Now safari won''t open and gives me the message that it previously unexpectedly quit and now can't open and quits. My only access to internet is Firefox, but I can't make it default. Any ideas? Mike S.

Silver M1 iMac 512/16/8/8 macOS 11.6
See if you can trash Safari from Applications and use FF to download another Safari version 8.0.2.
