Second internal HDD now invisible

Hello,

I have an issue with my second internal hard drive. Before i replaced my cd-rom with native macbook pro hdd (to store my data) and added new SSD drive. Yesterday my data hdd had been unmounted and now i can't find it. Disk Utility shows only SSD drive.
MacBook Pro 8,1
OS X 10.8.1
SSD Vertex 4
HDD Samsung (Native Apple 500gb)
Any ideas what could happened?

My guess would be that either the HDD has gone down, the SATA port has become dislodged (perhaps due to a dodgy optical bay adapter or otherwise) or the actual SATA port is faulty. unless Im overlooking something really silly...
