I've had my MacBook for about a year and a half. Two of the wonderful things I loved about it when I got it was how little it lagged when I ran multiple programs or tabs in Firefox, and how quick and accurate the search was.

It's slowed down a lot, and I've noticed lately that I can type an exact file name into the search, searching in the exact folder its in, and it won't find it. Why is this?

Here's an Apple KB article explaining how to re-index Spotlight. Give that a try and let us know if that fixes it for you.

To the OP:

You can follow Van's recommendation to rebuild the Spotlight index or you can do like I do and not use Spotlight. I use "Find Any File" which in my opinion is faster than Spotlight and more accurate in finding files in deep buried folders. It's also a free application.

Regards.
