can anyone help me with what I would assume to be an easy task? all I'm looking for is to have a preference file that would automatically be deleted at login .... the way I see this happening is by having a script being set off by login items .... unfortunately I don't know much about writing scripts.

thanks!

Welcome to Mac-Forums maulrat1967!!!!

Try this:
1.open script editor, then type (probably best to just copy/paste) the following:

tell application "Finder"
do shell script "rm -rf /Library/Preferences/<your desired plist file>
end tell

2. Save as an Application
3. Now add this "application" to login items.

You should be all set now.

If you tell us what plist are you wanting to delete we can give you the EXACT script.
