My MAC is using OS Catalina. I have an issue with the scenekit ql thumbnail extension loading and eating up over 7 GB of my 8.00GB of memory whenever I open up my Dropbox folder. When that happens, I get the spinning ball and eventually the computer just shuts down. Is it possible to safely remove the extension program? I have a companion Mac operating on Sierra with the same Dropbox. It operates flawlessly. Thanks for your help.

Welcome to our forums.

I did some checking around and did not come up with a definitive answer. However, you can kill the process from your Activity Monitor. Of course if it's loading automatically each time you start your machine that means you would need to kill the process each time after restarting.

I'm not a programmer but one of our moderators is. Perhaps he will have a better answer for you.

Thanks for your response. I agree that killing the process works, but hopefully a permanent kill would be great. I wonder if others have the same experience and what , if anything, can be done. It makes my computer utterly useless.

I removed Dropbox and decided to try Sync to see if there would be any improvement. However, I am still having the scenekit ql thumbnail extension problem discussed above. Is there a moderator with programing experience that can address my problem?
