Am using a MacBook Pro, 10.6.8. What is the Mac equivalent of ChkDsk please? I wish to scan/search for possible corrupted files, especially MP3, iTunes files.
Thank you very much

Read the following knowledge base article from Apple: LINK It gives an overview of how to check your disk and file system using both Disk Utility or FSCK.

FSCK = File System Check = Chkdsk (Check Disk)

Thank you very much for the reply. I used Disk Utility, chose Macintosh/First Aid/Repair Disk Permissions. Got a "Warning: SUID file/System/ Library/CoreServices/....as been modified and will not be repaired.I also got many "Permissions differ on System/Library/ [Various notations following "Library"] Do I have a concern here?

The system seems to be operating perfectly. I was notified via Sansdisk MP3 player that I may have some corrupted files
. Thus, I wished to go ahead and check out the entire system which I have never done. I'm thinking that I should just get an Apple MP3 device and keep things smoother.

Again- your assistance is deeply appreciated.
