Scanner Recommendations?

We've got 4 HP 5470c's here in our Mac labs, and they don't seem to like OS X at all. The drivers disappear, they stop working, you can't scan to photoshop without it locking up. I've tried the work around on HP's website with no avail. so...

Can anyone recommend a scanner that works SOLIDLY in OS X?

I have an Epson 1660 and after downloading software from Epson's website, it worked great with OS X. Now I can easily import scanned images to photoshop.
