I have a relatively new Imac (former PC user wondering why I didn't switch years ago) and, don't ask me how but, Safari was accidentally trashed...not showing under applications. I am running OS X 10.5.4. Is this an app that I need to install from the operating disc? If so, do I need to reinstall everything or can I just install Safari itself. I have tried an install of the program from the apple site without success (message reads that it will not load to my hard drive). Appreciate any advice...thanks.

you can install from the install disc, just go to custom install tick safari and untick everything else or download from http://www.apple.com/downloads/ thats easier

Tried but, failed to work

Thanks for the info but, have tried both and warning comes up that states that the version (of Safari) cannot work on with my OS version (10.5.4). No download seems to work. It makes no sense to me...I'm stumped. I can only assume that I need to reinstall my OS. Am I correct? If so, do I need to reinstall Leopard, too? Also, if the answer is a complete reinstall, I assume a backup of important software is recommended...correct? Again, thanks in advance, for any feedback.

Do you have a recent clone backup from before yo noticed the problem. Restoring from that might be the easiest way of getting it back other than reinstalling the o/s.?

Try downloading the Mac OS X 10.5.4 combo updater from here. Install it, and it should put the current version of Safari on your computer. If the installer refuses to do anything because you're on 10.5.4 already, use Pacifist to install just /Applications/Safari.app.
