Apple did an update a few days ago and hosed my RoboForm Password Manager. After the update Safari lost the Plug-in to RoboForm. Tried to get it back and failed. A few weeks ago when Firefox updated I lost RoboForm on Firefox. It took about 2 to 3 weeks for RoboForm to update the fix. I sent a Trouble Ticket to RoboForm and they know about Safari. Does anyone on the Forum use RoboForm and is there a work around. I'm guessing RoboForm can't keep up with all the security updates in the browsers

I might just start looking for a new Password Manager. If I do, I need a Secure Password Manager that I don't have to log into every time I close the Browser if I'm going to change.

I may be misconstruing your intention, but if you are looking for a PW manager that is, as it were, permanently open, then there is nothing secure about it. Anyone accessing your Mac and hence, say, Safari, has access to all your passwords.

I would normally suggest 1Password, much touted on these forums (there are other very good ones as well) - but it's security, of which it is renowned, depends on signing-in at the start of each session and it has a timeout after a period of inactivity.

This, I would suggest, is the essence of a "secure" password manager.

If I've misunderstood, please say. And if you wish a truly "secure" PW, the 1Password is a market leader.

Thank you Ian for the reply. May be I should have explained it better, my bad. As you explained in your post is the way Roboform works. Since I'm the only one using the computer I have Roboform set to log off 1 hour of inactivity. I'll look into 1Password. ;)

Maybe not the best solution... but Safari does have the capability to assign and manage your passwords. And it will create passwords for you on the fly and store them in your Keychain. In my opinion, it's as secure as 1Password (and a lot less expensive) in that your Admin password is used to unlock the passwords. The only problem with this approach is that you must use Safari. However, Apple keeps Safari up to date along with OS X so you would not have to worry about Roboform or 1Password catching up.

That would be a good idea for a backup for my passwords encase the others go south with Apples updates. But I don't think I can handle using Safari as my main browser. I tried using Safari when I bought this computer for about a month and it drove me nuts, had to install Firefox to use as the main browser.
