Well, what extensions do ya both have running?

I got five extensions running:
Evernote Clipper 6.2.4
eBay Manager 3.1.4
LastPass 3.1.61
Awesome ScreenShot 1.4.5
Turn off the lights 3.0.0.15

It seems that we don't have any same extension...

If the window is not closed, but minimized or open, then it would stay there, as long as you want, not quitting.

Got to report this to Apple although I think this "quitting" might be good for saving energy :Evil:.

I have exactly this issue too since installing Yosemite. Whenever the Mac goes to sleep, Safari quits. This is driving me nuts, as every time I reopen Safari I have to resize the window, re-customise the toolbar, and set search preferences again. Anyone with a solution, please post! In grateful anticipation etc,

Yea, this almost seems like it may be something that is created when a perfect storm of criteria are met in safari since it only happens to certain people. I have none of it. Do either of you have problems adding tabs? Meaning if you have a window opened and wish to open another one, you click the big plus symbol, and you ALWAYS get a second or third etc tab?

Tabs work absolutely fine. All aspects of Safari 8 work fine for me, apart from this pesky auto-quit issue.

OK folks - I'm touching wood here, but I think I may have resolved the problem. I've undertaken a few measures, as recommended on various forums, so I don't really know which measure worked. However, fingers crossed!

So here's what I did:

- Because the problem may have been associated with the latest version of Java Runtime (I kept getting pesky pop up messages to install it, when it was already installed), I followed someone's advice and downloaded and installed Java 6. This has certainly stopped the pesky pop ups, which may or may not have had something to do with the Safari issue;

- next I deleted the file~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db, as recommended by someone else;

- finally, I ran disk repair (it was OK) and Permissions repair. Now, there were umpteen and a half permissions that needed repair following the Yosemite update, mostly related to my printer, but others too.

So that's it. The computer has been left unattended for an hour or so, has gone to sleep, had been rudely reawakened, and the problem seems to have rectified itself.

It's early days, so I'll be back to tell you if my optimism was misplaced!

My mac is NOT set to go to sleep so, deliberately, stays on all the time (my choice). Safari quits after 30 minutes of non use.

I might give a try at the aj0347 solution and see what happens.

In my case, everything is still there after I reopen my Safari...

Just to say that I've now had a symptom free 24 hours (well, my computer has). I know this will be frowned upon, but what made the difference was that I ran Mackeeper cleanup.
