I like to look at a resort webcam that my family members frequent. Lately, the webcam will not load in Safari (version 18.5). I have removed all website data. Content blockers for the webcam website are off. Auto-Play for the website is allowed. Accessing my location is allowed. Pop-up windows on the site are allowed. Downloads are allowed. Reader is allowed. Camera and microphone are allowed. JavaScript is enabled. I Use Wipr in Safari, but the webcam will not play with or without Wipr active.

My 2017 iMac is up to date with Ventura 13.7.6.

In short, I cannot see why this one webcam won't appear. It used to work fine, but lately, it hasn't. Other webcams do appear normally. Other webcams, and the one I want to view, also appear normally in Chrome and in Firefox.

What is preventing my viewing this one webcam in Safari?

I have no idea what your problem is and I know nothing about the wiper application but if you are using an older version I wonder if it has stopped working according to what it says at Apple store:

• This is the legacy version of Wipr, intended only for users of older versions of iOS and macOS.

• Wipr 2 is now available, and it is strongly recommended for all users running at least iOS 17 or macOS 14 Sonoma. Search for “Wipr 2” in the App Store or find it in the “More by” section below!

Can you contact the owners of the webcam and ask them if it is actually still up and running?

Is there something special about the webcam and why does one need a third party add-on in order to view it with a standard Safari browser? Just curious, but that seems a bit odd unless it's a private large or something and has restricted access or whatever.

Sounds like you've done all the right things. The fact that it works with Chrome and Firefox suggests to me that it's Safari that's out of date. Ventura is a few years old now so you wouldn't have the latest Safari version.

Just another reason why I stopped using Safari years ago with even older Mac OS X versions. Updates were only available with a newer and often incompatible OS version.

Rod and pm-r: Thanks. I was afraid in that...
