Wondering if this has ever been tried? I have 10.7.5 currently, but is there anyway to make this happen? Just curious.

An early 2008 MacBook is limited to Lion as the latest version of OS X it can run. The reason is because of the graphics adapter in that machine which is an Intel X3100 integrated chipset. Anything later than Lion will not install. That machine will perform best with Snow Leopard 10.6.8.

Can you upgrade the graphics adapter?

No, it's integrated within the CPU chipset assembly. Your early 2008 MacBook is still a useful machine for many things. And as I stated above, it will run best with Snow Leopard. And if you can upgrade the memory to 4GB which will give you a boost in speed for some things.

Ah too bad, Im currently running Lion, it runs pretty good. I have a 1tb SSD and 4gb RAM, so its pretty decent. Honestly I love this gen macbook and I don't want it to be outdated hahaha.

Okay, another question.

Is there anyway you can trick the computer into thinking it has Yosemite while running lion. Just to run apps like safari 8.

Probably> you might find a hack of some sort in the dark corners of the Internet but it's unlikely due to the graphics chips limits. Assuming you were able to trick the system that's often a great way to introduce instability into an otherwise functioning.

My MBP was purchased Nov. 2009 with upgraded graphics capabilities as far as I remember. If I am correct about that will I be able to use Mountain Lion? I have recently ordered it after reading on another thread that I could use it, if I understood correctly. I recently installed Snow Leopard.

Yes your MBP can run the latest Mac OS 10.10 (Yosemite). So it can certainly run OS 10.8 (Mountain Lion).

p.s. By the way. It may have been better to start a new thread. Since your situation is a bit different from the original poster of this thread.:)

Great news Nick, thanx! Sorry about hijacking the post, it was unintentional.

Good deal…and no big problem. Just didn't want anyone to get confused.:)
