Wondering if this has ever been tried? I have 10.7.5 currently, but is there anyway to make this happen? Just curious.

No, it's integrated within the CPU chipset assembly. Your early 2008 MacBook is still a useful machine for many things. And as I stated above, it will run best with Snow Leopard. And if you can upgrade the memory to 4GB which will give you a boost in speed for some things.
My MBP was purchased Nov. 2009 with upgraded graphics capabilities as far as I remember. If I am correct about that will I be able to use Mountain Lion?
