I have never liked WINE because it was such a pain to setup and get running. It was more trouble than it was worth. :\ And the version of Crossover that I have is outdated - doesn't work with Lion, and quite frankly I'm not in the mood to give them $39.95 for an upgrade.

I ran across this new version of WINE the other day: WineBottler which not only includes a new version of WINE but also a WINE Bottler (for those of you who like to dab in it)

Anyway, I installed it and had it up and running in less than 10 minutes. The only drawback is that it's not for someone who is not familiar with running Windows programs from a Command Prompt. But it's a free alternative to Crossover and a great way to run one or two Windows programs. Keep in mind this is not for gaming.... :)

Give it a try.

I downloaded Wine and Winebottler and after looking at it, decided I didn't want it. A little above my skill level at this point....and I decided that I want to go all Mac, so I don't want this program after all. I dragged Wine and Winebottler to Trash and closed it in the finder left column. My question is have I removed all of it? I know how to look for bits of programs on my pc but don't know on a mac I don't see anything in Finder, is there somewhere else to look?

Yes, you removed all of it. Once the main Wine folder is removed, the entire program is removed. If you also installed the Wine Bottler, make sure you do the same with it. I didn't install that part because I don't plan on putting together my own bottles for Windows programs.

Thanks! Still a really new switcher and not technical at all!
