Rotation function on ATI Radeon X1600

Hi,

I have a MacBook Pro running 10.4.9 with an ATI X1600 video chip. I just bought an LG 24" monitor which pivots vertically. I want the actual display to pivot 90 degrees too, but in the MacBook Displays System Preferences there is no place to activate this. I have heard there may be a way to do this that is "hidden". Can anyone help?

ive been using this for about 3 weeks now, wonderful

u need to plug the display in and turn it on first. then go into the prefpanel, and display....
