Pope John Paul II passed away today at the age of 84. He was the Pontiff for 26 years, behind only Pius IX and St. Peter in longevity. He went through a lot of health issues in the past few years and is now finally at peace

Responsible in part, with President Ronald Reagan, for bringing down the communist regime, he was the most widely-travelled pope, one of only two non-italian leaders of the Catholic Church, and a man of integrity and dignity till his last hour.

He even forgave the man who tried to assassinate him and was respected by all within the faith, and many outside. Let him always be remembered as a great leader, and a great man.

I met him last april. He was in pretty good health at that time. I am not sure why but I spoke to him in spanish (i speak spanish, french and english (natively)) he was really nice
