hello

the admin password to my old imac g5 has long been forgotten (gave it to one of my sisters) the machine is one of the first g5s, with the thick screen (5 to 6 years old?)

tried to reset it by starting with a system cd holding the "c" pressed

the menu appears were you can choose to change the pw. I enter a new pw but somehow the new pw is not registered.

any ideas someone?

thks,

That method should work. It's booting from the OSX DVD? Are you putting in everything it's asking?

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1274

Click on Resetting the original administrator account password toward the bottom.

Also what OSX DVD are you using? You should use the one that is loaded on the iMac.
