Resetting Apple ID on a "New To You" Computer

The subject of resetting the ownership/Apple ID associated with purchasing a used Apple computer has come up a couple/few times recently. Where the previous owner has not "deauthorized" (Apple ID) the computer before selling it...and now the new owner cannot do a lot of things like software updates/upgrades, access iTunes, access Mac App Store, etc.

Thanks guys. Since I pretty much only purchase used Apple computers for my families use...all this talk recently about previous owners not "deauthorizing" the computer before selling it was starting to bug me (I don't want to get stuck in this "boat"). So coming across this Apple Support Communities document was nice!
