OK, so my battery died a while ago, and I've only just found out that is what is causing my poor performance (apparently the processor throttles back about 40-50% on mains adapter power only in intensive tasks!), cos I had been happy using it plugged in constantly.
So I'm in need of a new battery, and I'm very reluctant to spend £100 on one from Apple as well, to put it this way, I'm a student! I've seen various knock offs on ebay for as low as £20, from £30 seemingly from UK based sellers with a 1yr warranty (which appeals), then from £50 advertising as "genuine" Apple batteries.
Now what to do? Do the cheap knock off ones work ok? To be honest, if I only got 12 months out of a battery that cost £20-30 I'd not be upset, my original one lasted less than 3 years anyway, and I'm planning on replacing the laptop within 12 months funds allowing. But will I get 12 months out of one, or will it last more like 12 days?
Your opinions gratefully received.
