Installed a Panasonic UJ-265 into my late 2009 21.5" iMac. Slid in a disk to find it isn't active, and, sure enough, now that I look further it seems my mac isn't listed among its compatibilities.

Is there a workaround or do I need to just rip it back out and return it?

Thanks!

Installing the correct drive would be my recommendation.

You could also consider an external USB optical drive instead of an internal.
