I have upgraded to OSX Yosemite and done all the software updates. No matter my attempts to remove a REPEATING WINDOW, it will not disappear. I have restarted and shutdown the computer several times. The window is: "Are you sure you want to shut down your computer now?" (and the rest of the options for the power). My computer is 2008 MAC PRO. It is running on a direct Ethernet connection. I have not attempted to reinstall the operating system, nor do I want to.

You can't "remove" that. It's going to show up every time you Shut Down. I rather like it myself. Before Apple added that, I often had an "uh-oh" moment as soon as I hit Shut Down and wished I could interrupt the process. Now that I have that option, of course, I rarely think of something else I want to do.

Dale try holding down the Option key as you hit the Close instruction.

Harry, do you mean Shut Down, not Close?

If Close, when closing what?
