hi,

i need to reinstall OS X on my mac as unfortunately i lost everything on a botched windows installation. My original systems disks are far away in Australia but i can borrow some snow leopard disks from a friend. I had used time machine to back up my mac (although unfortunately the last time was 6 weeks ago).

My questions are these...

Is there any prob using someone elses systems disk ?

Is there a prob installing Snow Leopard when I am not 100% that my back up is snow leopard. My comp is 7 months old and I had done regular updates but dont think it was SL.

Should I first just fully install Snow Leopard and then try and do a restore from time machine ?

I really don't wanna stuff this up and destroy my backup or comp.

Thanx in advance for all your advice.

Illegal ... They only cost $29 or here at home $39

No it should all be ok. I did it when upgrading to SL and many others on here as well

Shoulnt need to worry. Once the SL istall is on your machine just use migration assistant and migrate over anything you want.

Any more questions be free to ask. Hope this helps some :)
